Australia’s official handing over of PMV to Fiji at Black Rock Camp

The MoU will reinforced bilateral cooperation and further boost Fiji – Australia defence engagement under the Vuvale partnership.
During the signing of the MOU, Mason Smith, highlighted the significance of the enduring alliance in defence and security shared between our nations.
The MOU will facilitate administrative arrangements for future Defence Pacific Air Program rotations and will serve as the overarching governance framework for the operation of the C27J aircraft in Fiji.
These rotations offer substantial learning and development opportunities for Fijian Government personnel. The Ministry will be evaluating the outcomes from each rotation to guide further considerations for enhancing future air capabilities.
From the three Defence Pacific Air Program rotations this year, through cooperative efforts, 12 agencies utilized the program provided by the Government of Australia. These include delivering medical supplies to Rotuma for a surgical outreach mission, conducting aerial surveillance of maritime security threats, including illicit narcotics, and coordinating successful search and rescue operations.
Furthermore, PS Mason Smith expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Government of Fiji to the Government of Australia for the invaluable assistance provided and anticipates further strengthening of our engagement in the future.
